International Seminar:
”Autumn
in Japan - A World of Beautiful Leaves”
OSAKA, FUKUOKA & KYOTO – JAPAN
4th –
14th November 2003
The Seminar “Autumn in Japan – A World of
Beautful Leaves” took place from 4th – 14th November 2003.
Nineteen member countries participated in the
Seminar.
The Seminar was chosen to take place when Japan experiences its beautiful autumn and participants could enjoy the breathtaking
Japanese scenery of different cities, as well as introduce them to the
traditional Japanese crafts and different cultures.
In Osaka the first workshop was aimed at the
images of Rimpa. The most important workshop was the Judging Session. The
participants were given a tour of the Himeji Castle or the “White Heron Castle”.
The delegates travelled in the famous bullet
train to the next city Kyoto, a city with 1000 years of history behind it. Here
the participants enjoyed sessions on Calligraphy, Origami, vine basket weaving,
traditional paper collage called “Tsugigami” and pressed flowers. Japan has very clear and distinct season changes. These seasons were depicted by four
individual demonstrators. For the farewell dinner all the member countries
created floral centrepieces for each table.
